In the very near future, dkm Body Balance will be offering you the first item in its line of wellness products. dkm Body Balance pain and inflammation cream was born from a meticulous process of combining the finest in organic, all natural ingredients. This cream was designed to treat sprained muscles, muscle tension, joint pain, inflammation, chronic or acute conditions, arthritis, and much more. Many similar creams claim to be 100% natural, but few ever are. Furthermore, most contain an abundance of cheap, harmful, petroleum based products. dkm Body Balance pain cream has only eight, expertly selected, all natural ingredients. Check out the full ingredient list here:
Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Seed Oil) - Is very close to the skin's own natural sebum making it very well absorbed. It penetrates the skin rapidly leaving a non-sticky feel. It is especially protective. Most poorly made creams and skin care products use cheaper, possibly toxic compounds to aid in skin penetration. One of these harmful compounds is propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is a small organic alcohol. It is classified as a skin irritant and penetrator. It has been associated with causing dermatitis as well as hives. These sensitization effects have been shown to manifest at propylene glycol concentrations as low as two percent.
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil - Has many antioxidant properties. Olive oil absorbs UV radiation and is very efficient in lowering the metabolism rate of the body cells, thus assisting in repairing cells and in preventing cell damage. Olive oil is soothing and healing to all skin types.
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Wax - Helps with emulsification of the cream. You might find something like triethanolamine in its place in many low quality skin products. Triethanolamine combines two highly toxic chemicals. Use in the short term can cause itchy, irritated skin. Long term use can cause chemical damage to the skin such as blisters. It is so bad, the FDA will not allow more than a five percent concentration in any one product.
Beeswax - Also helps with emulsion and to give the product a creamy consistency. Another ingredient to watch out for here is toluene. You may see it on labels listed as benzene, toluol, phenylmethane, phenoxyethanol, or methylbenzene. This product is derived from petrochemicals (think gasoline) and can be toxic to the skin. If you see any ingredient with 'eth', 'butyl', 'ethyl', 'propyl', or 'methyl', it is a petrochemical and should be avoided. They can affect your respiratory system, cause nausea and irritate your skin. They have also been associated with kidney damage in animals.
Bee Propolis - Made when bees combine tree sap with their own beeswax, this ingredient has many healing properties and has been used for thousands of years for its medicinal benefits. Everything from boosting the immune system and helping to fight off infections to treating skin injuries.
Tocopherol (Vitamin E Natural Oil) - This ingredient works as a great antioxidant for the skin. It also has excellent anti-inflammatory properties. It’s a great skin moisturizer as well.
Panax Quinquefolius (Ginseng Tincture) - Ginseng is comprised of seven constituent ginsenosides, which possess immune-suppressive effects. Its anti-inflammatory properties can be attributed to the combined effects of the ginsenosides, which target different levels of immunological activity in the body.
Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil - Another powerful, all natural antioxidant. Lavender oil promotes rapid healing of skin lesions.
Dr. Kevin McCaleb is a Chiropractor and founder of dkm Body Balance.
A healthy way of life (balance between mind, body, and soul) have been a part of Kevin’s life since the beginning. He’s had a deep passion for these things, even before he was old enough to comprehend the concepts. It was this passion that guided him to where he is now. By the time Kevin finished high school, he knew that becoming a Chiropractor would be the perfect outlet to funnel his passion for wellness. He dove headfirst into his education majoring in anatomy and physiology with a minor in nutrition, earning his undergraduate degree in 1999. Upon completion, he immediately headed for Chiropractic College in the San Francisco Bay Area where he earned his doctorate in 2003 from Life Chiropractic College West. He then worked to perfect his craft in one of the busiest family practices in Northern California, advancing his hands-on education. He became skilled in techniques such as Diversified, Drop Table, Activator, and Toggle to name a few. He studied physical therapy protocols and became well versed in therapies such as ART, muscle stripping-deep tissue work, STM and trigger point therapy. In 2007, Kevin’s thirst for a new challenge and desire for a more balanced lifestyle brought him to Cabo San Lucas, and dkm Body Balance was born. Now, when not in his office. Kevin enjoys mountain biking, hiking, playing basketball, riding his motorcycle, surfing and going to the beach with friends. Or simply relaxing at home with his two dogs.
Chiropractic is the discipline and science of diagnosis and treatment of various joint dysfunctions that can arise throughout the entire body. Most people associate Chiropractors with the spine, spinal disorders, and disorders of the nervous system. However, the practice of Chiropractic is not limited to these specific areas. It is a drugless and nonsurgical mode of care. A Chiropractor is trained and licensed to practice the art of adjusting the spine (manipulation therapy) and related joints of the body in order to restore proper body motion (biomechanics) and function. Chiropractors frequently treat individuals with problems such as headaches, joint pain, neck pain, low back pain and sciatica. Chiropractors also treat patients with osteoarthritis, spinal disc conditions, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, sprains, and strains. However, the scope of conditions that Chiropractors manage or provide care for is not limited to the common pains and problems listed above. Although Chiropractors can be quite different in the way they practice and treat, the common thread woven through this discipline based on wellness is a core belief that the body has a very powerful innate ability to heal itself. Sometimes it just needs a little help.
Dr. Kevin McCaleb prides himself on being a well-rounded practitioner utilizing a wide variety of techniques and therapies. He knows that no two people were created equal. Consequently, no two problems or conditions are the same. He "believe(s) the more knowledge you have regarding therapies and technique, the greater your ability to help every individual that comes through your door.” Accordingly, Dr. McCaleb is constantly studying and learning the latest in therapeutic protocols and innovations. Dr. McCaleb is well trained in techniques such as Diversified, Gonstead, Activator Methods, Drop Table, Toggle, Thompson, and extremity adjusting. He also employs a great deal of physical therapy in his treatments. Therapies such as ART, muscle stripping and deep tissue, STM, trigger point therapy, exercise and stretching protocols, traction, cold laser, electric stimulation, and much more.
“My goal is to deliver the highest quality of service to every person that has entrusted me with the care of their body. I love what I do and enjoy taking as much time as is necessary with each patient to ensure optimal level care. You will experience much with a visit to Dkm Body Balance Chiropractic, but feeling rushed out the door is not one of them.”
